Colgate turned to FSG to upgrade their lighting system with the latest technology.

Challenge

In 1998, a retrofit of the Colgate Palmolive facility in Piscataway, New Jersey, reduced the electrical load by 225kW, saving over $77,000 in energy costs. Ten years later, Colgate once again turned to FSG to upgrade their lighting system with the latest technology.

Solution

By utilizing new Philips 25W energy-saving T8 lamps and occupancy sensors in offices and labs, FSG reduced fixture wattage by 25%. 2x2 fixtures utilizing T8 U lamps were upgraded with reflectors and F17T8 straight lamps as well. In the warehouse, pilot plants and powerhouse HID fixtures were updated to T8 highbays that provided an average energy reduction of 50%, in addition to much longer lamp life. With another 120kW reduced from the electrical load, anticipated annual energy savings were expected to exceed $100,000.
