Case Study
FSG Installs Emergency Power Genset as Part of Electrical Construction Work Scope

For the University of Texas Tyler, construction of the new Soules College of Business STEM and Business building represented a big step forward. The new 140,000 sqft, four-story academic facility would provide the very latest tools and access for students of science, technology, engineering, math, and business programs at the UT-Tyler. To provide continuity of basic facility services, and to ensure seamless functionality for the various data-rich disciplines working within the new building, the new building design included emergency backup power generation.

As part of an overall $7,600,000.00 electrical construction work scope for the project, FSG Dallas was tasked with the installation of a 250kW emergency power generator set to serve the new STEM and Business building.

Prior to the installation of the new emergency generator, FSG supervised the creation of the pad site to the required specifications, with an underground conduit fed through the pad to align properly with the new generator. With the pad complete, FSG supervised the placement of the genset onto the pad and began the process of installing all feed lines and connections between the generator, the switchgear, and the associated load bank. All installation work was followed by complete testing and system commissioning that resulted in the final delivery of the emergency generator to the project owner in perfect working order.

For the University of Texas Tyler, knowing their new facility was backed up with a reliable emergency power source delivered real peace of mind. For FSG's Dallas team, the installation of the emergency genset was an opportunity to extend its top-notch service into the future, beyond the end of the construction project, to be remembered each time the power goes out and instantly returns again.
