FSG Audits 12MM Square Feet in 12 Weeks

Challenge

Fort Bragg in North Carolina is a military installation of the United States Army. By population, it is the largest military installation in the world, with more than 50,000 active duty personnel calling Fort Bragg home. Long a leader in a variety of Army programs, Fort Bragg has become a test bed of sorts for renewable energy sources and energy efficiency improvements. It had been over 10 years since the existing lighting systems had been updated to what was then considered state-of-the-art fluorescent technologies by Honeywell under a 1997 ESPC IDIQ. Ameresco was currently engaged at the site, and when the time came for another lighting upgrade, they turned to FSG to provide a complete lighting solution for both interior and exterior spaces at Fort Bragg.

Solution

The project scope included over 300 buildings covering over 12 million square feet. Lighting in interior buildings included offices, dormitories, warehouses and storage buildings, and other commercial spaces. The exterior site and area lighting were also part of the scope. Many buildings and areas were designated as high security and required careful coordination. The lighting design had to encompass BAA, TAA, and UFC requirements.

Result

With an aggressive 12-week timeline, the FSG Sales Engineering Team completed on-site auditing and preparation of the final lighting specifications deliverable ahead of schedule.

FSG is well versed in the requirements for federal facility lighting upgrades and has the capability for in-house lighting design using AGI 32. For Ameresco and for all the fine folks serving at Fort Bragg, FSG's experience and broad base of competencies really paid off.
