FSG facilitated a rebate program for this undertaking, resulting in a project that paid for itself in less than six months.

Challenge

Hotels require excellent lighting in order to properly provide the warm feeling of home, as well as to impress visitors with their design and aesthetics. Parking garages at hotels must also be well lit, although this is geared more towards the security of visitors, their cars, and their belongings. FSG Electric was contracted by Hyatt to perform a lighting retrofit at the parking garage of the Hyatt Inner Harbor in Baltimore with two goals in mind: improve lighting quality, and cut energy costs.

Solution

This project called for the replacement of 209 175W metal halide garage fixtures with new, 43W LED fixtures, resulting in a 75% energy reduction. Additionally, lamp life was increased from approximately 10,000 hours to over 100,000 hours, thus greatly reducing expected future maintenance expense. On the garage roof, 400W metal halide shoe box fixtures were retrofitted with 137W LED fixtures. As with so many other of our projects, FSG facilitated a rebate program for this undertaking, resulting in a project that paid for itself in less than six months.
