FSG Provides Technology and Cabling Support for Northside ISD

Challenge

As the fourth-largest school district in Texas, San Antonio's Northside Independent School District has had to work hard to keep up with the explosive growth in the area that brings new students to the district almost every day. For the new John Marshall Harlan high school construction project, named according to convention after a U.S. Supreme Court Justice, the district turned to Joeris to serve as General Contractor.

With an eye on the future and a desire to equip and outfit its campuses with the latest in voice, data, video, and security network design, Northside ISD and Joeris turned to FSG's San Antonio branch and its in-house technology design group Tero Technologies to complete the structural cabling work scope for the project.

Solution

FSG's Tero Technology design group conducted site surveys to verify all special requirements associated with the project, then coordinated with the GC to establish an agreement regarding any standards required for installation.

With schedules approved, Tero and FSG began work creating a cable pathway, interfacing with project electricians as required. Next, the work involved the installation and cable management of horizontal and backbone cabling. Once that work was completed, crews began work on the build-out of MDF and IDF closets and proceeded with final trim-out.

With the structured cabling work scope complete, FSG finished the project by conducting system-wide testing and providing all closeout documentation for Joeris.

Result

Northside ISD's new Harlan High School opened to wide acclaim across the district and quickly became home to 2,800 lucky students. With access to the latest technology infrastructure, those students and the teachers and administrators responsible for their education all moved forward into an exciting future.
