FSG Electric was brought on board for a complete electrical construction contract.

Challenge

Kaufman County authorities determined to build a new jail facility to save the expense of having to house inmates in the facilities of neighboring counties. FSG Electric was brought on board for a complete electrical construction contract.

Solution

The 50-acre complex, totaling some 111,000 square feet, is built on suspended slab. FSG installed more than 35,000 feet of electrical conduit under the slab. The ceiling of the facility is hollow core, and our technicians created 1,000 cored holes throughout the ceiling in order to provide connections to the Morlite lighting fixtures and other ceiling-mounted electrical devices. Because of the nature of this facility, all electrical materials were installed in a way that left them completely enclosed, or otherwise vandal-resistant. In addition to the electrical infrastructure work, FSG also provided and installed a 1,000 kW emergency generator system that is designed to ensure that electrical, communication, fire, and security systems remain functional in the event of main power failure
