Lincoln Tunnel Helix Weehawken, New Jersey

Case Study
FSG Replaced the Roadway Lighting on the Helix leading into the Lincoln Tunnel

Challenge

The Lincoln Tunnel, first opened in 1937, is one of two tunnel systems that travels under the Hudson River between New Jersey and Manhattan. Carrying nearly 108,000 vehicles per day – including some 1,700 buses carrying 62,000 commuters – the tunnel is one of the busiest and most remarkable in the United States. FSG, with PSE&G and Constellation Energy, upgraded the lighting for both the helix approach road, as well as the tunnel itself.

Solution

The approach road was upgraded by replacing eighty-four 400W HPS cobrahead streetlights with 200W induction fixtures. Additionally, fifteen 175W lamps were replaced with 100W induction lamps. For the tunnel interior, more than 2,300 HPS fixtures were updated to LED technology.

FSG projects consistently deliver excellence for our  customers, for our employees, and for the communities we serve.

We see each project as an opportunity to embrace our mission and provide superior value through quality products, service, and support.
