Lighting Upgrade Including High Mast, Crane, Warehouse and Office Areas
ChallengeSealand's terminal in Port Elizabeth, NJ is a full service port facility including outdoor cargo storage, warehousing, offices, maintenance repair garages and inspection areas. Lighting systems were old and outdated, and also suffered from short life.
SolutionFSG designed a turn-key solution which also included a rebate through the PSE&G Standard Offer Program. Outdoor lighting was re-lamped and re-ballasted new new high efficiency HID systems. Six new Holophane 100 foot poles with high mast lowering devices and 12 fixtures per pole were added. Office fixtures were updated from prismatic to parabolic style to reduce glare. Holophane Bantam fixtures were used in areas where refrigerated boxes were connected and stored. Custom bollards were developed to light the sides and bottoms of trailers and containers during evening inspections. New fixtures installed in the warehouse improved the light levels and the readability of print on vertical carton surfaces. Security officers noted the new lighting reduced shadows and greatly improved security in the buildings.
ResultMr. Vince Vetusi, Facilities Maintenance Manager for Sealand's Elizabeth facility explains, We were looking to not only improve lighting in many areas as part of our overall quality process but also decrease our energy costs. The new lighting system provided accomplishes our goals.""
