Northern State Prison Newark, New Jersey
Case Study
FSG Performed a full service LED Lighting upgrade for both interior and exterior lighting.
Challenge
Northern State Prison is a state run prison located at 168 Frontage Road in Newark, New Jersey for male offenders that houses over 2,600 inmates. It is operated by the New Jersey Department of Corrections. Updating lighting in any correctional facility requires intense coordination and scheduling. Fixtures are usually vandal resistant in design, which can lengthen the typical times required to retrofit fixtures, and require design knowledge when replacing themSolution
FSG updated the lighting throughout the facility including housing areas, offices, back of house, warehouse space, maintenance shops, kitchens and dining areas. Exterior site lighting inside and outside the perimeter was also updated.Result
The new lighting system was installed with no disruption to prison operations. Outdoor lighting was upgraded to new fixtures with 100,000 hour life, versus the 24,000 hour life found on the existing lighting system. This greatly reduced maintenance costs going forward. In addition to substantial maintenance savings electric costs were reduced over $217,000.00 a year. The project also received a rebate from the PSE&G DIrect Install ProgramFSG projects consistently deliver excellence for our customers, for our employees, and for the communities we serve.
We see each project as an opportunity to embrace our mission and provide superior value through quality products, service, and support.
