Simon Malls Utility Meters Nationwide

Simon Propery Group needed a better solution for understanding their energy consumption across their nationwide property portfolio. FSG had the solution.

Challenge

Simon Property Group, Inc., headquartered in Indianapolis, IN, owns and manages retail real estate, primarily malls, premium outlets, and community lifestyle centers. Utility meters on their properties were being manually read, and reported to Indianapolis. FSG Energy was engaged to automate this process.

Solution

More than 6,000 networked meters, from three different manufacturers, were installed and connected to utilize Automated Meter Reading capabilities. The meter readings were captured automatically and used to fill a utilities database. The new technology was integrated with Simon’s existing building automation systems, and made capable of automated demand response for utility companies. FSG employed our unified structure to utilize our FSG Electric teams, as well as our National Accounts Central’s sub-contractor network. More than one hundred malls across the United States were served.
