US Army Corps of Engineers Albuquerque District Albuquerque, NM
Case Study
USACE Updates Lighting at 7 Dams
Challenge
The mission of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is to deliver vital public and military engineering services. The USACE Albuquerque District completed John Martin Dam in New Mexico after WW2. Other major projects followed in the ensuing years: Jemez Canyon Dam, Abiquiu Dam, Two Rivers Dam, and Cochiti Dam in New Mexico; Trinidad Dam in Colorado, and Santa Rosa Dam in New Mexico. FSG was tasked with bringing the indoor and outdoor lighting systems at all 7 locations up to today's highest efficiency standards.Solution
An audit of all seven locations determined a scope of almost 2,000 fixtures. LED tubes and screw-in lamps in interior spaces were updated to new LED lamps. Exterior HID flood lights and wall pack fixtures were updated to new LED fixtures with much longer life and substantially reduced energy consumption. Products were selected to provide long life and reduced maintenance costs.Result
The lighting retrofit reduced demand across all 7 sites by 154KW, saving over $56,000 a year in energy costs. New LED fixtures provided better color and light overall while saving energy. Products are covered by a 5-year warranty providing peace of mind.FSG projects consistently deliver excellence for our customers, for our employees, and for the communities we serve.
We see each project as an opportunity to embrace our mission and provide superior value through quality products, service, and support.
