Case Study
Electrical Construction - The project consisted of an expansion adding more than 95,000 square feet of new construction; 33,000 square feet of renovations and 23,000 square feet of shell space. WHMC will increase licensed beds by 53; additional operating rooms a new Intensive Care Unit and expand women's services. The new three-level tower will house the cardiac services, including two cardiac catheterization labs, one bi-plane electrophysiology lab, five diagnostic procedure rooms, and ten cardiac recovery bays.

Challenge

The project had its challenges in that the existing central plant was expanded while operating as a fully functioning medical facility. The expansion included additional square footage to the existing plant, mechanical and plumbing equipment along with upsizing the Main Switchboard. FSG worked extensively to coordinate with the Owner's operations team, the general contractor, generator suppliers and local utility services to ensure a seamless transition from existing utilities to new.
