Rice University transformed the historic Sears building in Houston into The ION, a 288,000-square-foot innovation hub featuring workspaces, labs, event areas, and shared amenities. Partnering with Gilbane, our Houston branch delivered the complete electrical scope, bringing large-scale project expertise and overcoming pandemic challenges to meet the highest standards. The ION now anchors the Rice Innovation District, positioning Houston as a leader in technology and entrepreneurship.
