FSG Coordinates Building Controls Across New and Legacy Facilities for Ben E. Keith

Challenge

Ben E. Keith, a food product and alcoholic beverage distributor in business since 1906, is headquartered in Ft. Worth, Texas. In 2017, the company was planning to build a new 620,000 square-foot distribution center in Selma, Texas. For its new facility, the company wanted to integrate the HVAC system, lighting panels, electrical meters, water meters, A/V panel, and fire alarm panel into one cohesive system. Seeking to extend the same level of facility management capability to other existing company distribution center locations, Ben E. Keith was interested in updating broken or failing Energy Management Systems (EMS) at several other Texas locations.

To execute the Smart Building project for the new Selma facility, and to update the existing systems at three additional locations, Ben E. Keith turned to FSG's Smart Buildings Division.

Solution

For the new distribution center in Selma, Texas, FSG Smart Buildings integrated a solution to connect all major facility systems into a new facility EMS. In the end, FSG Smart Buildings developed and deployed a new EMS for two locations while upgrading systems at two other Ben E. Keith sites. Upon completion of all installation and upgrade work, FSG Smart Buildings connected the four facilities with Chariot®, FSG's cloud-based software platform for real-time control, monitoring, and analysis of building systems.

Result

Ben E. Keith opened its new Selma distribution center in 2019. The company was thrilled with the state-of-the-art building control system at the new facility. Company leadership was also thrilled with the full range of control and functionality available across all four facilities that FSG Smart Buildings had integrated for Ben E. Keith as part of this important project.
