FSG Elevates Standard LED Retrofit to Include Added Features for Patients

Challenge

At Denver Health Medical Center, administrators were looking to upgrade legacy fluorescent lighting in patient rooms within the Pavilion C Obstetrics and Pediatrics building. What should have been a straightforward LED retrofit for 60 patient rooms became more complex when 3rd party vendor equipment challenges threatened to limit on/off and light dimming capabilities within the rooms. Hoping for a creative workaround, Denver Health turned to FSG Denver.

Solution

While replacing the old 2 x 4 fluorescent ceiling fixtures with energy-efficient LED, FSG was asked to find a solution that would allow for proper functioning of overhead lighting, exam lighting, and patient reading lighting in each room. FSG Denver delivered a controls solution using readily available equipment to provide both on/off and dimming for a wall switch behind the patient's bed, another wall switch at the entrance to each room, and importantly, for full bedside patient control as well.
