FSG performs a turnkey lighting retrofit at a large school district in Colorado.

Challenge

In El Paso County, Colorado, in the shadow of Pikes Peak, Falcon School District 49 administrators faithfully work to serve the students, parents, and teachers who make use of over 30 campus facilities every day. With a mix of both legacy school facilities and newly constructed campuses, D49 administrators were looking to establish a baseline of lighting quality and energy efficiency across the district. With a desire to streamline lighting maintenance in the process, school administrators turned to FSG’s Denver branch.

Solution

To begin this multi-phase project, FSG conducted lighting audits at 13 different D49 schools. Next, FSG’s Project and Account Managers met with the district’s Facility Project Manager to work out a rolling schedule for LED lighting retrofits that accommodated the district’s budget and operations schedules. With a campus-by-campus plan that leveraged TIPS co-op purchasing to deliver interior and exterior LED upgrades, along with interior lighting controls in selected locations, FSG found a way to structure the project so that District 49 came out on top.

Result

FSG worked with District 49 to deliver superior lighting and dramatic energy savings across the district. Most of all, FSG delivered deep discounts with cooperative purchasing that kept the project on budget. Throughout the project, FSG focused on delivering uniformity in all the materials provided, to streamline future maintenance operations for the district. With Phase 1 of the district-wide project completed by the end of 2023, three high school campuses and a district facility are already shining bright while saving money.
