FSG's team of electricians installed 4 large generators at an IKEA Distribution Center in Baytown, TX.

Challenge

IKEA, the globally known home goods conglomerate, needed four large generators installed and wired at a large distribution center in Baytown, Texas. This facility operates 24/7 and requires backup power to avoid costly shutdowns due to power outages. FSG Houston bid on and was awarded the job to be completed in a single CenterPoint shutdown to limit the time the facility would be without power. Because of the limited time the facility could be without power, the only time this installation was feasible was during a holiday break.

Solution

Team FSG got to work. Due to tight time constraints and supply chain issues, the only available slot to complete the installation was over the Thanksgiving break. With this schedule, FSG had to step up to the plate and execute the installation to get the fulfillment center energized under a tight deadline. Fortunately, a concrete subcontractor laid the concrete slabs and bollards down and the four 600 kW Generac generators had been delivered months prior, so FSG could focus on the installation and wiring. FSG Houston sent a team of 18 electricians to complete the job at the distribution center. The two buildings of the facility each received two generators to ensure enough power could continue to run should a power outage occur.

Result

The FSG Team's dedicated 18-man crew worked tirelessly to get the job done right. The job was completed in three and a half days while the facility was closed for the holiday break. The customer was thrilled that the job was completed on time, and on budget.
