Challenge

Dave Smalley, director of facilities for Penske Automotive reached out to FSG and requested that FSG come up with a solution for removing all of his remaining incandescent and fluorescent technology. The main areas of focus included the showrooms, offices and mechanic service bays. The project needed to be completed in a very short time frame.

Solution

FSG immediately got moving on an audit of all of the facilities from top to bottom and identified fixtures that needed to be replaced or retrofitted. Once the audit was complete, a design was developed for each location based on the information gathered in the audit. Keeping a uniform look and feel across the multiple locations was a challenge, but the design team was able to pull it off.

Result

In the end, the dealership management, dealership employees, and dealership customers were blown away by the results. The project achieved its primary goal of increasing lighting quality and output while also bringing the added benefit of an average kWh reduction of 1,092,662 per year! Additionally, the customer?s lighting maintenance intervals were greatly increased, thus reducing costs associated with lighting maintenance and downtime to schedule lighting maintenance.
