Our Tennis Court Lighting Process
Every project follows the same proven path, whether you're retrofitting a single court or building a new tournament complex. From initial site assessment to long-term maintenance, FSG handles the work end-to-end with a single point of accountability.
Design
Our lighting designers audit your existing setup, model the photometry, and engineer a layout tuned to your court count, play level, and facility goals.
Execute
We procure the fixtures, manage the install, and coordinate every electrical detail. Licensed FSG crews on-site, not subcontractors.
Evaluate
After install, we commission the system, verify light levels against the photometric plan, and walk you through operation before sign-off.
Maintain
Long after installation, we provide warranty support, scheduled maintenance, and emergency service to keep your courts performing.
Tennis Court Lighting Standards & Photometric Requirements
Lighting design for tennis courts requires precision. Players need to track a fast-moving ball without glare or shadows. FSG's lighting engineers follow IES RP-6-20 standards on every project, indoor or outdoor.
Foot-Candle Levels & Pole Configuration
Lighting intensity depends on the level of play:
- Recreational courts: 30 to 50 fc
- High school: 50 fc
- College: 75 fc
- Professional / broadcast: 100 fc
Pole heights typically range from 20 to 40 feet, with 2 to 8 poles placed outside the playing area depending on court count and configuration. USTA tournament play and broadcast events require additional uniformity ratios beyond raw foot-candle counts.
Indoor facilities use different mounting and fixture strategies than outdoor courts. Multi-court complexes require coordinated photometric design across all courts to avoid spill, hot spots, and dark zones.
