The Waldorf Astoria in Orlando completed a full scale, LED Retrofit in all the common areas and guest rooms.

Challenge

The Waldorf Astoria Orlando is a first class property located in the Bonnet Creek Resort properties area of the Walt Disney World Resort. The property has 502 guest rooms and utilizes more than 500,000 sqt. of space. The property wanted to take advantage of the energy savings provided by LED lighting, but didn't want to lose the signature look and feel of the property that the older, warmer, traditional lighting products provided. Despite tremendous advancements in LED technology, finding the exact right lamps for this retrofit project proved to be a challenge.

Solution

FSG utilized and leveraged its relationships with multiple vendors and suppliers to find the right lamps for the project. Since most of the lighting on the property operates at dimmed levels, finding LED product that would produce the right colors when dimmed was critical. After this challenge was identified, FSG went to work to find, test, and prove a selection of lamps that would perform the way the property wanted them to. Due to the sensitivity of working on an active property among guests and property staff, FSG used a night schedule to execute most of the project so that the property's day to day operations would face minimal disruptions.

Result

In the end, the property was retrofitted and the savings that LED offers were realized with little to no change in the overall look and appearance of the property.
